Yes I guess we come from different perspectives.

Withdrawing the feeding tube vs DNR. In one case we are discussing hydration and nourishment of someone who has not explicitly chosen to die - and are actively facilitating the death. In the other case we are passively choosing not to intervene in nature.

I suspect you view both as passive, but I hope your idea of assisted suicide at least involves the patient making the decision (and perhaps a quicker method).

Now if a patient had a living will that explicitly stated to deny themselves palliative or any other care - thats their decision and would make inserting a tube an active and unwelcome intervention.
