Thanks for some refreshing pieces of infomation. It may surprise some Americans to know that on the whole the French view of things, to judge from the TV news programs and the newspapers is very close to the view of things in the United States as presented by the NY Times, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, and the major TV networks. They follow closely what the Fed is doing and the effect of oil prices on the U. S.economy. One thing I had not realized is the high percentage of north Africans and Middle eastern Moslems in residence in France. One can see why the French might not care to become involved in an invasion of a Moslem country. They tried to retain possession of one in the 1950s --Algeria--and it did not work out well, just as when they tried to keep Vietnam.
