D'oh!> In Poly Sci, what you are describing is the difference between big elle and little elle libertarianism. I used to vote Big elle Liberatarian Party because I was so fed up with government - both Democrat and Republican. As I watch our rights erode, though, I again see the importance of DIVISION of government into STRONG estates that have independence. The fourth estate, the press, is now largely controlled by friends of the Executive, which places "free speech zones" outside of camera range. There is a six month jail sentence for violations. The current administration is taking rights away from people at an alarming rate and we have a rubber stamp Congress. This is of much more concern to me because it means that the agenda of a few rich guys is unchecked (historically THIS has been a bigger problem for MOST people in the US). So is the loss of jobs, AND the fact that we are the ONLY industrialized country (other than South Africa) that doesn't have universal health care. Re: Wal-mart In Afghanistan there are no child labor or maximum work day laws (that people here can give thanks to Socialists, BTW). In a recently published story I related a month ago, Wal-mart wanted to "shatter prices". The contract was with a rug vendor in Afghanistan that employed girls who had been sold into virtual slavery by poor parents for cash. Working from 8am to 2 AM (leaving 6 hours for sleep and anything else), what is the owner of the factory to do? Say "no" to WAL on dropping prices? I don't think so. "Girls, go work harder." is the most likely response and not "How can I recapitalize my business to be more effective?".
