Trichet says 'cannot disguise' ECB concerns about stability pact reform UPDATE (Updates with quotes by Trichet)
LIEGE, Belgium (AFX) - European Central Bank president Jean-Claude Trichet said he "cannot disguise our concerns" about EU member states' reform of the stability and growth pact

He was commenting at a press conference on EU leaders' endorsement on Tuesday of the dilution of Europe's fiscal rulebook by finance ministers

At the EU summit, Swedish finance minister Par Nuder said Trichet had told him that the ECB "can live with" the weakened pact, despite the bank's press statement on Monday saying it was "seriously concerned" by the changes

"I cannot disguise our concerns," Trichet said

"Now that we will have a new framework, it is imperative that member states, the European Commission and the council (of ministers) implement the stability pact rigorously and coherently," he said

If I remember correctly, you can get to the Alps pretty quickly by helicopter from Monaco. I wrote an article for "Gambling Times" back in the 70s about the casinos in the Alps and they were full of Monagasque gamblers back then.

I have sailed on both Lake Geneva (Lac Leman from the French speaking perspective) and Lake Constance but the latter is just a wider Rhine. <g>
