I cant speak for Mexico, but the Philippines certainly isnt leftist. In fact, I found the Philippines to be much like the USA was in my childhood, which brought back many fond memories. Perhaps you are thinking only of Manila, I dont know, but out in the Provinces its a lot different then Manila. jdn
