There is a quirk in the tax law that says if it has been your primary residence for 2 of the last 5 years no taxes are due. When I discovered that, I proposed a strategy to take advantage of it to my wife. She rejected it. The law is blind as to which years within the last five it has been your primary residence.

(I think 2 of 5 is the rule. It may be a little different.)
