Labor is tradeable across borders so is knowledge and other capital. Developed countries have knowledge and capital, the developing nations have labor. As Rick would say, "Luis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."

As for me, yo voy a estudiar español.

Finally, if I were young and aggressive or starting out (or starting over) I would seriously consider learning a second and third language, moving overseas and looking for opportunity. I would learn a business here and go and reproduce it offshore. Or you could consider backing a younger person with the time and energy to start a business in a foreign country. But be prepared to travel, and even if you are "only" the investor, learn the local language and customs and be prepared for changing course quickly.

with due respect to JM young and aggressive is relative to state of mind, not strictly physical age...

quite frankly, i am toying with the idea myself... i already know a second language and even residues of a third, which given the need or opportunity i would then further and perfect it...

i am grateful to this country, which gave me the opportunity to make it (not once, but twice, thank you very much)--- after being squashed by egomaniac politicians and arrogant bureucrats

BUT....

a MAJOR BUT...

the country is set in the direction of fascism, not there yet by far, but the 'setting up' is getting there..

i DO have experience in this field of admittedly (even by myself) that accurate forecasting is rather difficult to accomplish, however one must allow for the possibilities, when so much is at stake... action one must take * the really difficult part that many fail at *

however, i have a 100% perfect record because i got out of a country where my friends, who foolishly remained, got their heads handed over in a silver platter... so, i do have a faint idea of what the hell i am taking about...

and i am sad to say that unless a dramatic course of events takes place and turns things around, we are headed in the very wrong path ...

migrating to another country, (not an easy endeavour), where better opportunities exist has become not a matter of opportunity but rather, a matter of survival, in order to stay above the averages and mediocrity, not forgetting, to avoid being under the boot of fascism.
