All part of the grand design by conservatives since at least 1980 to destroy anything positive coming out of liberal programs eminating from the federal government. Conservatives don't attack big govt. just for the fun of it. They have a political agenda. Of course, in recent years conservatives anti-govt. agenda has become increasinly blurred as they've assumed control of the Federal govt. There has been no significant reduction in govt. under conservative rule. There has been a reordering of priorities away from social programs and towards militarism. But, all in all mondern conservatives have grown very comfortable with BIG GOVERNMENT. Probably because their business supporters have realized whay a piggybank Uncle Sam is. Liberalism has lost out to corporatism, which is being implemented by modern American conservatives.
