Geode, baby, here's YOUR chance to make a difference. There's a womnan we know of who has MS. Advanced, I'd say. Can't really speak intelligibly. Stumbles. Writes in large scrawly block letters. Probably less than a year to live. No cure and it's progressive. Treatment is a best a delaying action. It can slow it's progress early in the disease, but does little or nothing later. This is "later". Her husband left her soon after this started, the SOB. (The good news: They haven't divorced. Joint returns. Several years taxes are due to the state. The tax authority in this state is a SCREAMING ROYAL SON OF A BITCH! By the time they grind through their mill, she'll be dead and he's stuck and it'll be BIG with interest and penalties AND THEY WILL GET IT!) She belongs to and gave money to one of these big noise-making megachurches; they will do nothing. My wife called Medicare today about at least getting a medical alarm system for her so if she falls she can get help. They laughed; they don't cover that. She checked with MediCal, CA's state enhancement of Medicare. Go away. My wife found a senior aid association that might do something (not that she's a senior; she's 35, but they said, considering her circumstances, they might make an exception for her). And if they don't, I guess we'll pay for it. But I'm SURE a way can be found for YOU to make a difference. You on? PM me.
