My VIX-based indicator, which gives buy signals about once every 8 months on average, just triggered a buy today. The last few times it did this were:
8/9/04 (about 7.5 months ago)
3/12/03
10/7/02
7/22/02
7/11/02 (not very nice)

Today's signal isn't a picture-perfect one, and is often best managed by waiting just a few more days.

Sell signals with this system still aren't ready for prime time, as there are too many false positives.

Don't expect an update from me on signal confirmation or negation, however, as I will likely not be paying much attention to my computer over the near future.

looking at the charts, I just don't see anything bullish out there. And whenever the market can muster a little rally like yesterday...it just fizzles by the end of the day. I'm just not feeling any love for the market right now.
