Did you pray over the cat first or just point and shoot? I often think at poignant times like you just described it is possible to direct the healing powers of Jesus directly at the cat through prayer. It was a good thing you had a gun ready to go, here in Canada we would have to strangle the cat with our bare hands or knife it because of our strict gun laws.
