OK. I give up.

There have been a number of people who have taken exception to the Florida law on pulling the plug. Best I can tell, the objection is to divining the patient's wishes if he has not stated them in writing. So I have been trying to find what they would propose as an alternative. It's one thing to complain about something and another to offer a better idea. I thought we might, as a group, be able to either come up with a consensus alternative or disabuse folks of their objections. Or, at the very least, I could get a better understanding of the other side.

A couple of people have weighed in already. I thought you and M might want to weigh in, too. But it seems you would rather rehash the Schiavo case or wander off to the question of the length of hospital stays.

[Florida just considered changing their law to disallow pulling the plug unless there are written instructions. The bill failed.]
