I can tell you one thing, I've designed, specified, and built with Belden cables of all kinds since the beginning of my EE work in communications, controls and instrumentation.

BDC: I don't know a whole lot about CDT and the Belden-CDT merger, but it doesn't get any better than Belden for quality and performance. Like Sears, if what comes in the box isn't exactly what you ordered and in absolutely perfect condition - their Rep is out there immediately, if not sooner, to replace it. Their products are approved by anybody who anything in industry and/or approving authorities worldwide; and they are used by anybody in the business who has the slightest clue......

I haven't dug into this technology yet, but I'll probably have to soon:
Power over Ethernet infrastructure technology enables power to be delivered to network
devices such as IP telephones, wireless LAN access points, security cameras, access
control devices and other enterprise terminals over the existing data connection
(standard Category 5 or better LAN cabling), without modifying or replacing the
infrastructure already in place. Power over Ethernet is also a necessity for the
Voice-over-IP (VoIP) solution, as this service requires an alternative power
source for IP telephones.

But, it's obviously a needed solution, and if Belden is involved it will be done right.

John :-)
