Back when I was humping the corporate cow, we had some issues and, in true corporate fashion, a team was formed to deal with them. We had regular meetings as a work group to address the issues.

One of the members, a great looking lady used to come dressed in the latest tight fitting, somewhat revealing clothes, but certainly within the corporate guidelines. She got a lot of attention and a lot of discussion about her among some of the guys and gals as well as discussions with her about the clothes.

She was bright and had good ideas. However, we had a deadline and limited time to deal with the issues. Reluctantly (she sure was eye candy) we had to remove her from the team.

Subsequent meetings were very focused and we got things done. Could we have used her input? Definitely. Was the input worth the distraction she caused? No.

Life is a constant balancing act where we juggle our resources to maximize our profits. Did Slider have good ideas? Yes. Were they worth the disruption? IMO, no.

Just the way I see it.

Frank, well stated. Slider's "out-of-the-box" thinking was always interesting and provocative. I don't remember ever acting on his advice, but it did influence me in making me think about the macro issues affecting my investments in the patch. Too bad the *fear* of some posters here that he would eventually revert back to becoming excessively nasty (as he did in the old SD thread) caused him to voluntarily stop posting here. What he said in leaving, was a class act IMHO. He undoubtably has a large ego, but those that asked him to leave, or are glad he's gone, need to do an ego check on themselves.

Many thanks to all for sharing their expertise here! Back to my lurk mode. :-)
