I haven't seen grey-haired Army Privates since they eliminated blood stripes. We had one old drunk private who had been busted down from Master Sergeant in a Californa Reppo-Deppo after Korea. They kept him on barracks cleanup. The Army did everything they could to pull rank off of EM when they got back from Korea. One ploy was to confine them to barracks when they arrived in the states and break the ones that went AWOL.
