I know rates are low, and frankly I think a little rising rates could actually help the stock market by depressing the housing bubble a little- wierd how these trends in investing go, but the fact that housing is so hot actually pulls money away from the markets and we need a little speculation to even make people interested in investing.

But the fact remains you have a sort of steady state in interest rates and rising them.... from ANY level... depresses the economy.

This is a very challenging economic period for the fed and the treasury and I wish we had Bob Rubin instead of captain kangaroo and dancing bear to look for assistance.
