I do not believe that Bush's plan involves any investment options that will pay anywhere near 6%. There will not be significant difference between the amount you earn with the current offered options, minus the program cost, to what you get today. Most economists, even Greenspan, acknowledge that Bush's proposal does nothing to deal with the SS solvency issue.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'recognizing and monetizing' the problem. Do you think that the new SS plan will cause people to suddenly wake up and see the drunken sailors? Plenty of people see them now, but the drunks are in charge (they're called Republicans) and right now they have their hand on the tiller.

I'm familiar with WCOM, Enron, and the rest. Injecting more capital into Wall Street will only exacerbate the situation. Deregulation also contributes to the problem; the deregulation of telcom was one of the leading reasons for the capital bubble...

Deregulation and privatization, coupled with an inability to control government spending, is a recipe for disaster. Is it part of the neocon plan? Bankrupt the government as a way of dismantling all social programs? Or is it simply incompetence?

What happens if retirement is raised from 65 to 67 or 68?
Since most are living much longer(Especially if you own a hand gun). Seems like a logical adjustment.
