if you read that whole article, you will realize you are looking at the wrong thing. the Media Extender will be the only presence in the living room. it is quieter than a Tivo since it doesn't even have a fan or a hard drive. it is all you need in your living room. the PC goes back in the home office. as for costs, already the price point is around $400. i was shocked at how little my latest Dell cost. as for functionality, MCE already supports HDTV, unlike Tivo. and of course, you don't have to pay Tivo's annoying subscription fees with MCE.
