re: this whole space of media integration is very fast-moving and in flux right now, it seems to me. a lot of very large players are focused on the space. he who ignores the 800-pound gorilla does so at his own peril.

Man, you scared the hell out of me... the 800 pound gorilla is on my ass.

Frankly, and I'm saying this with the best educational intentions, you don't know what the f--- you are talking about. You don't have Media Center or TiVo. Come back when you are using both, or either one, as a consumer. Until then you are just another uninformed "expert".

Are you short TiVo?

John

MSFT & TiVo are partners and working together on TiVoToGo.

I don't think MSFT is trying to compete with TiVo.

I have standard cable ($50 per month) with Comcast, Comcast Internet ($50 per month) and the product lifetime with TiVo ($300). I am lower middle class and that's plenty for entertainment.

I will keep the product far beyond the break even point of 23 months at $13 per month. Friends of mine have digital cable and HDTV and the difference, if available, is not cost effective. TiVo is so easy, my 7 year old operates it.

I am a stockholder of TiVo because of their patents and every comment has been nothing less than great.

Down the road, who knows. Right now, it's TiVo.
