The bright side is that if Democrats control the government, they could destroy the social fabric that holds it together within a few years. Maybe the republics that sprung from its ashes would have some lasting power.

Here is one of the LIBERAL plans I have heard being bounced around to fix SS. 1. RAISE THE LIMIT on taxable SS income 2. LOWER the Cost of Living increase ESPECIALLY for those deemed to be on the HIGH END of SS payments. 3. RAISE the retirement age for all. Sounds GREAT if you are a liberal, BUT what happens. 1. People paying in THE MOST get THE LEAST, now thats a great INSURANCE PLAN isnt it? 2. People getting the most SS get the LEAST raise annually. Now, wouldnt it be NICE if CONGRESS had such a plan INSTEAD of having a plan that pays them MILLIONS of $$ and then continues on for their spouses. IMHO the LIBERALS are the ones that will destroy SS because they will destroy ANY INCENTIVE at all for those truly supporting the plan financially to continue. jdn
