Elmat - You are safe for this year and next. Who knows three years from now?, if any. The country is becoming more secular. There will be tourists going on the Silk Road journey. It has great cultural history (Mesopotamia and Persepolis, Achaemenid, Cyrus the Great, etc.). I am certain you will enjoy your time there. You may even get the family there for a few weeks. Where in Iran will you be? There is one area that's the origin of a religion that meld Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. I forget the name of that religion. Iranians are very nice people. During the first few years of the elder Khomeni's reign of Islamic Revolution, most Iranians in US called themselves Persians. At that time, "Iran" carried negative connotation. The Persian identity (vs Iranian) has better flavor to the typical dumb@ss American public who knows little about cultures. Don't forget the cuisine. They have great food too. Write us some recipes. Don't forget to bring back a few of those beautiful Persian rugs. The 100+ years old ones have greater value and also used vegetable based color and made of wool. The better quality ones have smaller and tighter weaves (similar to threads per square inch count).
