Phil > the US, which is the world's biggest arms seller, has authorized the sale of sophisticated jets to Pakistan, against the very legitimate concerns of India

That's only half the story. India wanted the lot.

>>The United States has agreed to sell sophisticated F-16 fighter planes to both India and its next-door rival Pakistan, administration officials said Friday, and India immediately expressed displeasure to President Bush.<<

>Donald Rumsfeld on Wednesday criticized Venezuela's reported efforts to buy 100,000 AK-47 assault rifles from Russia, suggesting that Venezuela's possession of so many weapons would threaten the hemisphere

Whatever one may think of him and his policies, he has a terrific sense of humor and says the most outrageous things. Let's face it, what are a few AK-47s in the Venezuelan army when anyone, including criminals, terrorists, "militias", undesirables, the mentally-deranged, kids, can walk into a gun shop and buy an assault rifle in the US where, I imagine, there must be literally millions of such weapons in the hands of "ordinary" people -- and all in the name of the right to bear arms. And then the Americans are outraged when a kid goes crazy at a school or wherever and runs amok, killing many people.

Yes, Rumsfeld is right to be concerned about Venezuela!

> Israel, never missing an opportunity to make money, resells arms and technology throughout the world, undermining in many instances US policy

That's Israel for you -- and who expected anything else from Israel but a double-cross?!

haaretz.com

>>Franklin was at the center of a lengthy FBI investigation after suspicions arose that he transferred classified information about U.S. policy on Iran to members of the pro-Israel lobby AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee). <<

Nothing will happen -- except a cover-up, of course -- so I wonder why they even bothered to go through the motions of a "lengthy investigation"?

Phil > The biggest recipient of US aid and military largess is of course Israel

And also for fantasy reasons -- like vacating the settlements -- which they have no intention of doing. In fact, the contrary.

israelnn.com

>>Israel is preparing an appeal to the United States for more than $500 million to cover ballooning costs for disengagement. The money would not be used for compensating residents forced to leave their homes, officials said.<<

If anyone else tried something like this it would be called a chutspah. With Israel, it's their due. As with the land they rightfully "uplift" from the Palestinians, it is God's Word that they should be "compensated" in this way.
