Dew, Some aspects of the Senomyx story which seem appealing include -

1) Extremely quick time to market, avoiding the usual lengthy/expensive/risky FDA hurdles for drug approval. GRAS designtion is all you need. Royalty revenues could start flowing as early as the first half of 2006.

2) The existing collaborations with four of the world's largest food companies indicates significant interest on their part for the technology.

3) Much lower risk compared to the typical bio company. Developing flavor enhancers is a lot easier than finding a cure for cancer for example.

4) Strong IP position.

5) The IPO lockup has passed, so much of the IPO related selling may have already occurred.

6) Good cash position, relatively low burn rate, and revenues could start to flow in 2006.

Anyway, the company might have some long term potential, and looks worthy of some serious DD. Frankly, I've become more disillusioned with the bio sector's risks, and find myself gravitating toward the more mundane areas.

<<SNMX strikes me as a “story stock” where the story is not all that appealing>>

Actually, I think the "story" is very appealing.....just dont know enough about snmx to see whether it is a good solid buy or not.....
