Too much salt on my food will trigger an attack of very painful gout. I pigged out on some very salty KFC original recipe after driving for about 500 miles and boy did I get a bad attack. No more KFC for me. I also get one when I eat too many salted peanuts. This happened twice. The salt interferes with the body's chemistry so that the uric acid is crystallised out and causes the gout.
