Putin and the ministers discussed the results of his meeting with Russian businessmen last week. "All issues discussed at the meeting should be implemented," Putin said. The president also asked ministers to contribute to a drafted bill that is expected to reduce the statute of limitations on privatization deals in Russia to three years from the current 10 years. Speaking at his meeting with businessmen March 24, that Russian businessmen should take part in the discussion and analysis of the proposals, he said, adding that "a competitive tax system is an important stimulus for economic development." "It is well-known that businessmen have a lot of well-grounded claims against Russia’s tax authorities," Putin said then. Earlier Putin was reported to have backed the proposals of Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin and Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov to limit the powers of the Russian tax authorities. At the meeting with Russian businessmen, Putin also said: “In order to stabilize property relations and to prevent any return to the idea of its redistribution, I support the idea of reducing the statute of limitations on privatization deals to three years from 10 years.” “This should relate to all privatization deals made by individuals and legal entities,” he said at the meeting.
