Thanks very much for recommending The Hidden Connections by Fritjof Capra. I will add it to my reading list! (Maybe we should send Ish a copy, as well!) It sounds very close to the other things I have been reading about sustainable, local agriculture. I saw a television program on Link TV the other day, and it was about how third world farmers cannot feed their families because they have been encouraged to grow export crops like tulips and chile peppers instead of crops like beans that they and their neighbors actually eat. Of course, the second part of that story is that they are so badly compensated for the export crops that they cannot feed their families with money, either. What a mess!
