Q = Qwest = Queer (no political correctness please) stock is in crapper, challenging mighty VZ for MCIP , the former WCOM which emerged from BK with lots of cash, little debt, shrinking market, and became cinderella after SBC bought T. Q needs MCIP a lot more than MCIP needs Q. MCIP, at least the corporate board, would much rather marry save, rich, predictable VZ, then hook up with that ragged, wrong side of the tracks, smells funny Q. What about the shareholders. well, thats another story, but who gives a rats ars. The reality, to me at least, is that the future potential of shareholders in a Q/MCIP tie up is much greater than the 1 1/2 kids, white picket fence, SUV and mini-van future with VZ. Then again, so is the risk. ain't it great. larry
