I don't think Chalabi does have much popular support in Iraq, his success is as an inside pol.


He is hated by the King of Jordan, that's for sure. And his ability to put together a coalition surprised our people.

I heard Richard Perle suggesting that letting the Iraqis, including Chalabi, take over immediately would have got better results. That's why it came to mind. But, thinking it over, we would probably have had major problems with any approach we used. So the left and the MSM would have been screaming anyway.
