I think it was all over but the shouting by late February. If the GDP wasn't distorted by bogus inflation "deflator" numbers, the second half of 1Q, 2005 would be close to negative. It's going to get much, much worse too.

Try early-mid '06 poots on the RTH or a suitable basket of retailers (BBY, BBBY, HD, ANN). Remeber, the stock market is supposed to forecast all of this, so it may be better to buy 'em early and hold 'em longer.....
