Boeing complained about the tax code and used that as a reason to justify the move, but they'd gotten many breaks from the state gov't along the way and so already had shifted some of their tax burden onto the backs of the rest of us. I felt the main reason they wanted to move away their headquarters was so they wouldn't have picketers and TV cameras on their own, personal front lawns as they moved jobs overseas. The also said they thought they would land more gubberment contracts by being a couple time zones closer to the mother lode, and I thought they were telling the truth about that one. They've certainly been in the headlines more since they moved to Chicago.
