Yes the weak dollar is a bad thing, of course. It makes us a poorer nation. That's obvious. If you have a million bucks, it's really worth $600,000 by 2000 standards. But you feel rich anyway, like eating cotton candy and thinking it's filling you up.

China is indeed consuming more energy because they produce almost everything we consume because we've outsourced our manufacturing there. But about one third of the price rise of oil is pure manipulation and gouging.

And by the way, if only we had passed the Kerry-McCain fuel efficiency standards bill Bushies worked so hard to defeat. That would create more excess energy than all of Alaska and would have helped out auto companies catch up the the much smarter Japanese, who once again trump us on fuel efficiency. Your gas guzzler is worthless now, a liability.

Bottomline, the Texas rightwing has ripped the US off for hundreds of billions since 2000 on energy gouging. Enron, Halliburton, Bush, the Saudis, all in it together. And of course they always lie about it. And of course Iraq was really about oil too. Oil for them, not for us.
