In 1988, I picked the phone and called General Systems Research Inc., a laser-cutter manufacturer based in Edmonton... The CEO, one Dr Eric Schmidt, offered me a 6-week internship... Next year I came back as a visiting student to the University of Alberta... Sometimes I said to myself that I should have accepted the offer by K.B. and J.M., two GSR employees, who told me they were ready to support my application to emigrate and work for them (they planned to set up their own company)... well, that was more than 15 years ago... GSR went bankrupt the year I came back... Anyway, I wasn't "kicked out" of Canada! Gus
