The market believes the economy is going down.

The question is will the Fed continue to raise interest rates with growth slowing?

Buy programs hit the market this morning and then the sell programs followed up later in the session.

Maybe it was end of quarter window dressing, although I thought most of that might be done already.

I'm seeing a lot of institutional selling on anything that rallies. Institutional selling has been evident in the energy sector for almost a month now.

It's tough to set new highs if you don't have the size coming to market represented by the institutional buyers.

Hence, the slow and agonizing down trend.

What happened ? Belief that Fed will keep pushing up interest rates - which will kill most of the carry trades, slow down housing part of the economy, and cause the sky to fall.
