re: "Neocon" is distinguished from conservatives in general more by foreign policy then by domestic policy.

Bull. They are distinguished by priorities. And we are talking specifically about the Bush/Neo admin, not some theoretical philosophy. These guys just don't care about the budget, period.

re: My point was that discipline on spending, even if it is just slowing down the growth of spending, will have a very positive fiscal impact. It might very well be true that "the neo-cons", or some group of neo-cons, might be against such discipline. It is also true that they would probably be against tax increases. You are free to advocate tax increases despite such the possibility that this might displease those you would call neo-cons. I am similarly free to have an opinion that is different from neo-cons or from Bush's. I was not talking about them, or in their name, or to them. I was proposing what I think would be a good idea, just as you where when you called for a tax increase.

And I agree with you on spending. But to solve the huge deficit problem, we need to increase revenues (to at least keep up with GDP) as well.

You can try to separate the problem from the Bush admin, but they are the primary cause of the problem.

And I'll repeat, job one is to get our fiscal house in order. Even if it causes some economic pain. Putting the "stimulus" on the credit card just delays and makes the problem worse.
