1 - I think a stronger argument can be made for exercise and nutrition having a major positive health impact than having more sex. 2 - The idea if exercise and nutrition being supported by the government is almost without controversy. Few would strenuously complain, and most of those are hard core libertarians who would complain about 70 to 90+% of what the federal government does. Sex is a more controversial subject. Generally I think the government should promote ideas that engender controversy. I'm not an absolutist on this, but the justification would have to be very strong. 3 - I personally have libertarian leanings. I'm not going to be up in arms about relatively uncontroversial ideas being promoted by the government as long as it doesn't cost to much, and as long as it seems that the ideas are positive with little or no downside but I'm not exactly a hugh fan of the feds exercise and nutrition promotion either. Fine, but you are absolutely no fun to discuss this with! I'm trying to provoke the conservatives - which (in my never humble opinion) tend to have more restrictive views of sex - argue their losing case that less sexual activity is better for the population. GB would argue that position, so I figured some of the Bush supporters here would take it. Closest we got was Dave Ray saying 13 year olds shouldn't be banging their teachers (which seems pretty obvious). Nobody seems to want to bite, so forget it.....
