do you mean more diverse genes within each individual, or that the continent has more diversity in the form of genetically distinct ethnic groups

The latter. Groups within Africa have more genetic diversity with each other than do all other groups outside of Africa. It should also be noted that Chimps show this effect even more so, while being geographically more restricted yet. Don't know that anyone has a really definitive answer for this, although the default one is that the groups have been genetically isolated although geographically close for a long time.

oh boy, you'd want to be careful where you stated that in México Yes, they're doing quite well. Much better than the Native Americans from the Northwest locally. The Reconquista (sp??) is pretty spectacular, and another example of winning from beneath so to speak. The Caribs, and many N & S Americans didn't do so well.

... and he's black, real black - jamaican

Have you ever watched the movie "Mr. Johnson"? If not, please do so. There was one line that had me rolling on the floor. "We Englishmen..." The context was beautiful.
