The 1000 years will complete the last 6000 years of recorded history, making a total of 7000 years. It will be the sabbath on the earth. You have heard that one day is as a 1000 years with God and a thousand years is as a day. The total of 7000 years will be to God as one week.

Really what you are asking is who will rule before and after this one week period. It will be God.

The way I understand it, the saints of God will be rulers along with Christ. What will Christ rule over. In large part we will have to wait and see. Not even Christ knew the exact day of the coming of his return.

Christ has always been the obedient son. God spoke let there be light and the obedient son made light, with the power of the holy spirit."By him and for him were all things created." "Him" is Jesus. It was Jesus that created the universe and it was Jesus that made man. Fitting and proper that he should come and redeem the very universe and mankind that He made.

We are to follow Jesus. Obiedient to the Father. Even Jesus said that he could only do what he had seen his father say and do. If you have seen me you have seen the father, he said.

In God's kingdom we can rule along with Christ even this day. God gives us the opportunity to join him in his daily "chores". One way or another God will not be stymied or stopped. He is about his business running the affairs of heaven and earth, every day. We can join him.

What an exciting life that is. To be in step with the creator of the universe. To be used by him and for him. For those that have been faithful over the little they shall be given many cities to be faithful over. I believe Christ was speaking of the 1000 year rule.

The 1000 year rule will be to teach us the methods and ways of the way God intended us to be on the earth. All the nations will be brought under the subjection of God's authority. In many ways it will be a very harsh time for the nations that are rebellious, with the sheep and the goats being separated.

After that time the devil will be released for one more short period of time , because God will not force anyone to follow him if they would rather spend their eternity in with satan. But then the earth will be restored to the way it was before the fall of Adam and Eve, and even to the way the universe was before the fall of satan from heaven.

In Christ...gregor

not a millenial guy myself, but this scripture may be appropriate to consider who reigns AFTER Christ:

1 Cor 15

24then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power.

25For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet.

26The last enemy that will be abolished is death.

27For HE HAS PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET But when He says, "All things are put in subjection," it is evident that He is excepted who put all things in subjection to Him.

28When all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all.

Christ does. Christ reigns for the next two ages or "aions" in the greek. The milleniel reign (1000 year) and the new heaven and earth age. The milleniel reign will be followed by the new heaven and earth. This is where the KJV gets it's "forever and ever". Incorrect. Christ does not reign forever. If He did, He would never defeat all enemies. He reigns "UNTIL" He has defeated all enemies, no longer.(It's actually for the "aions of the aions" ie, the last two ages of all the other ages). After the new heaven and earth age ends, Christ's reign will end and He will hand the kingdom over to the Father, so that God will be all in all. 1 Corinthians 15:25-28.
