OT...shopping... I'll answer your post over here, so "shopping talk" won't bug those who are looking for strictly technical posts!!! From your post: ...I thought I'd offer some anecdotal evidence of the differences in the way two chains treat their customers-....I returned to both stores, with unworn and still tagged items in tow, in order to get the additional discounts...The Ann Taylor sales rep immediately took care of it...The Banana Republic clerk told me that their policy as limited to 2 weeks and alas, I was too late. I can relate to your post. I don't like to shop, and when I go shopping I like to get several outfits at the same time. I usually wait until I'm motivated because I have a trip planned, and I need a specific outfit. Customer service is very important to me, and I appreciate having someone who is helpful finding the correct size, and various choices that might "fit" with that item that I'm considering. I've been in a Chico's, but have yet to make a purchase. I'll have to look more carefully The clothes in Chicos are hard to "visualize" without trying them on! The first time I went into Chicos I walked out after about 5 minutes. The next time I shopped at Chicos I tried on clothes, and I couldn't believe how many different outfits I purchased. IMO the stores that offer good customer service will continue to do well in any economy.
