LOL! At that time, my family and I were "house rich and cash poor" ... so we really couldn't start meaningful investing until 1982 IIRC.

The even bigger laugh is that I might have thought to know something about markets at that time ... which I didn't know and didn't have the time to learn. But we knew we had to invest for college expenses and retirement, and we then finally had some free cash ... so we invested all we could.

Our methodology can best be described as diversified dollar-cost-averaging and, except for some "play money", leaving the details to professionals.
