Current gas price $2.63 for regular, up about 80% from before Bush-cheney were nominated and first started the gougathon. Four years ago I read an account by a reporter who overheard Frank Murkowski and other Cheney oil cronies discussing gas prices. Murkowski stated "They need to be higher, much higher", meaning gas prices, in order to push through drilling in pristine wildlife refuges and marine sanctuaries. This has always been their agenda. If you cannot see it, you're blind.
