JD,
I don't think I am beating on anything. Like you, I have been searching for data and sharing it.

If you would like to know, I believe the husband should have the final say. Yet, I am totally outraged that he refuses to allow this this gal's mom and dad to comfort her in her distress. And I think that refusal is enough to consider forfeiting his rights.

I have two adult married daughters. If one of their husbands ever tried to prevent me from comforting my child in a life threatening situation for any reason...there would be hell to pay on earth and it would not only not be pretty, it would be decisive. I would do whatever was necessary to eliminate him from the decision making process.

IMO, the true outrage is the husband separating a dying person from her loving and caring parents.
