There are some tantalizing pieces of evidence that the core was demolished.

There were survivors from most floors of the first building and all floors of the second. If there had been a group cutting up the central core I suspect that someone would have reports of unusual 'maintenance' activities. Your 'pancake' theory requires that nearly every floor had been cut apart without anyone noticing.

It seems unnecessary too, since the top of the building that began the pancake process was plenty heavy and could easily have done a number on the core one the collapse process began. Supporting evidence is that the second building, with the heavier top, fell first and it fell exactly beginning where the airplane hit which would have been a difficult guess for whoever was dismantling the core.

This sounds again like a Karl Rove distraction to keep people from investigating real mysteries, such as why no planes were put up to intercept any of the hyjacked planes, and why the flight 93 fell apart in the air.
