Most experts believe estimates made in the last 50 years are too high period.

Why do you say "in the last 50 years". Estimates 50 years ago were obviously too low. True estimates made recently or 10 years ago or whatever, where also "in the last 50 years", but it seems odd to use that expression unless your claiming that we have had 50 years of estimates that were all proven too high.


The point that I was making is that determining oil reserves is more an art rather than a science. And in the past, its been the practice of oil companies to come out on the high side.

You seem to believe that at one time, oil reserves were conservatively estimated. All the material I have read on the subject suggests that's not true.
