I took enough statics and dynamics courses to know the difference in compressive forces in a hollow structure and one that is filled with a diffuse network of supports. That is why carboard is strong so long as the weight is perpendicular to the corrugation and weak when pressed from the side. That is why a liquor box, with it's honeycomb of carboard inserts stacks up stronger than a hollow box of the same size and thickness. TP
