I couldn't find a decent picture of a lotus. They grow in about a foot of water and have a leaf about 18" across 6" above the water. Another stem rises about 2' above the water and has a flower the size of a softball. The petals fall off and there's a bright green cone with black dots across the top. This cone grows, turns brown and each black dot becomes a pocket with a seed in it.
