What's the trade-off between early entry bonus points and price variance?

For example, it's much easier to predict the closing price on Apr 12 than it is today as the price may be significantly different from today's close of $16.12 on Apr 12.

If AMD is at $20 come April 12, my price prediction would be different than were it at today's price of $16.12 on Apr 12.

What I'm saying is that revenue category estimates made today are unlikely to change, unless, of course, AMD were to provide comment, good or bad, between now and Apr 12, but price estimate is very much a fuction of price at the time of the estimate.

Is too much weighting given to closing price on April 13, given the large advantage of waiting 'til Apr 12 to input price estimate?

Question: I know my revenue price estimates today, but given this volatile market, I'm inclined to delay my entry 'til the 12th. What price variance from today's close would offset bonus points awarded by entering before tomorrow, all other things equal?

Actually, Niceguy brings up a good point. Maybe the best solution is to cut off the contest a week before earnings. Whoops, better get busy! Also, if AMD or Intel "warns," those who entered before the warning should get a 1 point deduction. They deserve it.

PS - alternative, those who enter < 1 week before earnings can't do better than 1 sigma error on their stock price estimate.
