At these times of high volatility chop, those on the inside of the market appear to be doing their utmost to separate those on the outside of the market (that would be us, I'm afraid) from the maximum amount of their money. The insider's chief weapon, aside from knowledge and $$$? Our emotions which can turn (or rather, be turned) on a dime.

Is it the end of month games yesterday and today? Is it a GS report, or a new rise in crude oil, or Chinese demand or something else? I could never in a hundred lifetimes keep it straight (and keep it straight timely).

Just looking at PTEN, on 3/22 we had an intraday high of 26.66, but it collapsed to close at 25.90. On 3/30 we had a swing low of 23.35, but it rallied to close at 24.32. Today we are rallying to 25.24, but where will it close? Close today and the first part of tomorrow will tell us a lot, I think.

On MWD, this CNBC coverage is a laugher. They are not even close to reporting the news anymore, they are performing more like sharks smelling the blood in the water. With that "invitation" to Purcell they are very close to taunting.
