Interesting, Michael. Shows the potential market for Bin Laden's autobiography when and if he gets around to writing it.

Turks have always been fascinated with Germany. Those Mercedes buses that ply the tourist destinations in Turkey are pretty awesome. Germany is the first place most Turks go when they leave Turkey, whether to look for work or for vacation. And Germans buy lots of those famous leather coats at the bazaar in Istanbul. Straddling east and west, Germany naturally represents "the West" to most Turks. I suspect the Mein Kampf popularity may have more to do with schadenfreude than to latent antisemitism.

Reading too much into such things can lead to some pretty wild generalizations. In the same vein, what do our most most popular (and violent) videogames reveal about our culture?
