That's not the issue.

They (and the Koreans, and many others) are concerned by the fact that the school textbooks Japan teaches it's children with either make no mention of the atrocities the Japanese commited in WW II (the 'rape of Nanking' with some 300,000+ murders, the slave labor and forced prostitution in Korea, the barbarous treatment of Allied prisoners, biological warfare experiments on captured combatants, experimental 'operations' on live, non-anesthesized prisoners, etc.), or else severely downplay them.

It would be kinda like if the modern German government denied the murders of the Holocaust.
