Linux reminds me of a symphony orchestra I heard here in Austin recently -- it was generally enjoyable, it produced a few thrilling moments, and overall it showed good enthusiasm and lots of promise, but there were some significant rough edges, particularly in the coordination and technical merit.

JMHO.

OK, I'm not on expert footing here, but didn't IBM take over & use the LINUX movement (against SUN) & thus gain the "upper hand" not by a better product, but better business weaseling?

That's not how I see it. IBM didn't take over any movements (they just participated more actively in that community while Sun vacillated) or do any particularly bad business weaseling that I know of (they just spread out their portfolio a little).

I don't know how much money IBM is making off Linux systems. I would guess it's a relatively small percentage of their total revenue, but that's based on no perusal of numbers and anybody who knows better should correct that guess.

Don't blame Linux or IBM for Sun's problems, which are 80% self-created.
